Nationwide Insurance has introduced enhanced offerings forconsumers using mobile devices. The NationwideMobile app for iPhone and iPod touch is now availablefor Android users, and a new mobile Website will make interaction with Nationwide easier onany mobile platform.

Nationwide Mobile, which provides a tool kit for customers touse following a car accident as well as access to their Nationwideaccount information, will be available for Android users beginningthis month. This popular app has been downloaded more than 100,000times by iPhone and iPod touch owners and has been used by morethan 500 customers to begin the insurance claims process after acar accident.

Additionally, Nationwide has enhanced its mobile Web site(m.nationwide.com)

to make interacting with the company through any mobiledevice easier.

“The Nationwide mobile app for iPhone and iPod touch has beenreally successful and generated a lot of buzz,” says Dennis Giglio,associate vice president of digital marketing for Nationwide. “Wewanted to build on this success by expanding the reach of ourmobile capabilities to a wider range of customers by adding anAndroid app and improving our mobile Web site.”

In late 2009, Nationwide launched its second mobile app,Cartopia, which was designed to provide useful information tomobile users shopping for a car. Despite a significant number ofdownloads, Nationwide has retired Cartopia.

The company’s mobile strategy moving forward will involveenhancing Nationwide Mobile and m.nationwide.com as opposed toasking customers to maintain multiple Nationwide apps. Some ofCartopia’s features may be integrated into Nationwide Mobile in thefuture.
