The Coalition Against Insurance Fraud (CAIF) recently welcomed newly elected officers, and new members to join in the organization's fight against fraud. Julia Hearthway, Deputy Attorney General for Pennsylvania, joins Doug Ashbridge of Farmers Insurance as a co-chair for the Coalition. Treasurer John Sargent of MetLife and Secretary Steve Perry of the NAIC were both re-elected to serve their positions for another term.

The officers will be leading the largest membership in the group's history, as it is now at an all-time high of 90 members with the recent addition of Geico and the National Consumers League (NCL) to its board of directors. Geico, America's third largest private-passenger auto insurer, insures more than 16 million vehicles, and has 24,000 associates around the country. The NCL is a private, non-profit consumer advocacy group that provides government, businesses, and other organizations with the consumer's perspective on a variety of issues.

The two organizations are the latest to join the Coalition, following six other recent non-board memberships filled by First Acceptance Corporation, Healthcare Insight, Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, SAS Institute, Thomson Reuters, and the Virginia State Police. All members of the CAIF are working to combat insurance fraud through legislation, public outreach, and advocacy.
