Brian Duperreault, president and CEO, Marsh & McLennan, USA,will be the 2011 International Insurance Society (IIS) InsuranceHall of Fame inductee, the group announced.

Mr. Duperreault will be inducted June 20, 2011 at the 47th IISAnnual Seminar in Toronto.

According to IIS, the Insurance Hall of Fame award "honorsinsurance leaders who have made a broad, encompassing and lastingcontribution to the insurance industry and who are recognized bytheir peers as successful leaders, innovators or visionaries."

The IIS Honors Committee selected 2011 nominees, and the IISmembership voted on the winner by secret ballot.

IIS credited Mr. Duperreault with developing and implementing amultiyear plan to restore the Marsh & McLennan name aftermorale and talent issues stemming from former New York AttorneyGeneral Eliot Spitzer's investigation into the industry'scommission practices.

"In less than three years, Mr. Duperreault installed a newmanagement team, resolved a host of legacy matters, and stabilizedthe Marsh & McLennan franchise--all against the backdrop of themost severe economic downturn in recent memory," IIS said in astatement.

Mr. Duperreault has nearly 40 years of experience in theindustry. He became CEO of MMC in January 2008. Previously, heserved as CEO of ACE for 10 years. He began his career as anactuary for American International Group in 1973.
