Chicago-based insurance broker Aon said its stockholdersapproved a deal to purchase Hewitt Associates Inc. at a specialmeeting yesterday. The firm said stockholders of Hewitt approvedthe deal earlier in the day.

Aon announced plans to acquire Hewitt, the Lincolnshire,Ill.-based human resource and outsourcing firm, back in July(http://www.property-casualty.com/Issues/2010/July-19-2010/Pages/Aon-To-Buy-Hewitt-Associates-For-49-Billion.aspx?k=Hewitt), for about $4.9 billion in stock and cash. The deal consists of a50-50 split in stock and cash.

Aon said the transaction is still subject to regulatory approvaland is expected to close by mid-November.
