When discussing going green at insurance companies, financialconcerns are not at the forefront. Green initiatives generally areviewed as a rationale for investment in the data center,particularly where they increase long-term viability of an agingdata center. While companies may not intentionally invest in greentechnology, some initiatives such as virtualization inherently havereduced energy demands. Most companies, however, are reluctant tomove forward with green initiatives without a strong argument theproject will save money or at least be cost neutral.
