The International Insurance Society Inc. in New York announcedthat Michael J. Morrissey has been named its new president andchief executive officer.

IIS said he will succeed Patrick W. Kenny in June when Mr. Kennyretires. Mr. Morrissey will be officially introduced at the IIS45th Annual Seminar, June 7 to 10 at the Grand Hyatt inAmman, Jordan.

The meeting, IIS said, is hosted by the Insurance Commission ofJordan under the patronage of Queen Rania Al Abdullah.

Brian Duperreault, IIS chairman, said Mr. Morrissey's"experience in corporate financial management specializing in theinsurance industry, combined with his global perspective, makes himuniquely poised to lead our organization during these extraordinarytimes."

He noted that under Mr. Kenny's leadership the IIS has seensignificant growth in terms of global reach and relevance.

Prior to joining the IIS, Mr. Morrissey was chairman and chiefexecutive officer of Firemark Investments. As a founder ofFiremark, Mr. Morrissey was also the chief investment officer forthe firm and portfolio manager of the Firemark Tiger Fund.

Mr. Morrissey has advised insurance company managements andserved on several insurance company boards, as well as chairing thefirm's fund boards. He currently is a member on the board ofdirectors of Selective Insurance Group Inc. and CGA Group, Ltd.

Before establishing Firemark, Mr. Morrissey was president ofManhattan Life Insurance Co. and senior vice president of Crum& Forster, and held investment banking positions withDeanWitter & Co. and Kidder Peabody&Co.
