More agents and brokers are using real-time technology tools tohandle policy rating and sales, manage customer inquiries anddeliver service, according to a survey developed by the RealTime/Download Campaign and promoted by management system usergroups, carriers, software vendors, state agent associations,ACORD-User Groups Information Exchange (AUGIE), and the IndependentInsurance Agents & Brokers of America's Agents Council forTechnology (ACT). Slightly more than 90 percent of respondents saidthey use an agency management system in their office.

According to the survey of 3,200 agency staff members from everystate in the country, more than half of agency management systemusers tap a real-time tool to start an inquiry or servicetransaction (54 percent for inquiries and 55 percent for personallines endorsements). In addition, 43 percent of agents are ratingpersonal lines in real time through the agency management system orcomparative rater.

Forty-seven percent of those using Real Time find time savingsof as much as 30 minutes per employee each day (45 percent inpersonal lines and 50 percent in commercial).
