Two California individuals suspected of committing automobileinsurance fraud and providing false information to a policeofficer. Navpaul Dhillon, 21, of San Jose self-surrendered to theSanta Clara County Sheriff's Office on December 10. Ajaypal Singh,26, of Morgan Hill, self-surrendered to the Santa Clara CountySheriff's Office on December 9.

According to California Department of Insurance (CDI) andCalifornia Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators, on June 12, Dhillonwas driving near Interstate-5 and Interstate-80 in Sacramento whenhe lost control of his Acura TL and crashed into a concretedivider. After the collision, Dhillon allegedly exited the freewayand pushed his vehicle into the Sacramento Salt Pond. He thenpurportedly filed a report with the San Jose Police Department andhis insurance company, claiming that his car had been stolen.

Following the incident, Dhillon told investigators that hecalled his friend, Singh, and asked for a ride home. Singhconfirmed that he drove Dhillon home. After reviewing additionalfacts surrounding the case, CDI investigators discovered that thisinformation provided by both men was inaccurate. Singh lateradmitted lying about picking up Dhillon, and both men have sincerefused to provide any additional information to investigatorsabout the incident.
