The International Insurance Society has announced the passing ofthe organization's founder, Dr. John S. Bickley. Bickley foundedthe International Insurance Society Inc. and the Insurance Hall ofFame, serving as president and CEO from its inception until hisretirement in 1988.
|Bickely's teaching career spanned 50 years, and he held academicpositions at The University of Alabama, The University ofWisconsin, The University of Washington, Ohio State University,Stanford University and other universities across the U.S. He alsoworked for various insurance companies and the United StatesArmy.
|Bickely grandfathered the concept of risk management andestablished the Journal of Risk and Insurance. He also wrote abest-selling scholarly study, "Trends and Problems in InsuranceMarketing."
