The New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association(NYPIUA) announced that Arthur I. Golden has retired as director ofthe Governing Board after more than 24 years of service.

Golden is the longest serving member of the board of NYPIUA. Hewas appointed to NYPIUA's Board in 1984 and served over the yearson the Producer Liaison, Arson and Fire Safety, Claims and Financecommittees.

Golden founded Golden and Golden Insurance in 1957. He was pastpresident of the board of directors of the Professional InsuranceAgents of New York and was recognized by PIA as Producer of theYear in 1989 and as Agent of the Year in 1994. He also served asdirector on the Council of Insurance Brokers of Greater New York,director of the New York Automobile Insurance Plan and was a memberof the Producer Liaison Committee for Insurance ServicesOffice.

Golden served as a U.S. Army major during the Korean War. Hereceived his Bachelor of Science in business administration fromNew York University and his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School.He was a member of Iota Nu Sigma, an honorary insurancefraternity.
