Anthony G. Dickson, the president and chief executive officer ofNew Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, is retiring after 17years in the post.

Bernard M. Flynn, NJM's executive vice president and generalcounsel, who joined the company in 1993, will succeed Mr.Dickson.

A 32 year veteran of the company, Mr. Dickson will retain hisseat on the board of directors and will remain chairman of NJM BankFSB, the company's wholly owned financial services subsidiary.

Mr. Dickson joined NJM in 1976 and became government affairscounsel in 1979, moving up through a progression of positionsincluding assistant vice president and later vice president andsecretary. He was named NJM's president in 1991, later adding thetitles of chairman and director of NJM Bank when that institutionopened in 1999.

The election of Mr. Flynn culminates a transition process thatbegan a year ago with Mr. Dickson's announcement of his pendingretirement, the West Trenton, N.J.-based insurer said. NJM said theboard's vote "confirms the high quality of individuals present onthe company's senior management team."

Mr. Flynn, 47, of Delran, N.J., first joined NJM as a staffattorney in 1993. He later served in various capacities beforebeing named vice president and general counsel in 2001. He waspromoted to executive vice president and general counsel in2008.

Before starting his career at NJM, Mr. Flynn was a New JerseyState Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Law, Department ofLaw and Public Safety, for five years, representing the Departmentof Insurance and the Department of Transportation .
