The London-based BMS reinsurance brokerage announced today thatit has hired away a nine-member property-casualty brokerage teamfrom Cooper Gay Intermediaries to conduct operations from a base inMinneapolis.

The firm said the unit will complement BMS's existing activitiesin London and North America, and will be led by senior brokers JimBrost and Mike Joyce, who will both hold the title of executivevice president.

“The acquisition of this team boosts our rapidly growingpresence in North America, and will give us a further strong basein Minneapolis–a major reinsurance hub,” said Hugo Crawley,chairman of BMS Intermediaries.

BMS noted that Mr. Brost has 30-plus years of experience in thep-c market and has expertise in the agricultural treaty industry.He was previously chief executive officer and agriculture practiceleader at Cooper Gay Intermediaries in Minneapolis.

The firm said Mr. Joyce has more than 25 years of reinsuranceexperience and was previously executive vice president at CooperGay Intermediaries in Minneapolis.
