The Boca Raton-based National Insurance Underwriters hasannounced a new homeowner's insurance program to offer coverage forhard to insure properties. Dubbed “Homegard”, the program offers anumber of insurance products to help individuals find coverage inthe market. The program includes guaranteed issue coverage up to$750,000, no credit scoring, and all risk perils. The program alsocovers seasonal residents as well as owner occupied and tenantoccupied.

“At a time when many major insurers have stopped writinghomeowners' insurance, we are excited to offer this product toagents throughout the country,” said Craig Calver, national salesdirector for the NIU's property and casualty division. “We believethat Homegard provides the proper mix of niche and desired coveragefor difficult to insure situations that agents have been seekingfor some time and that they'll want to add to their properties”

NIU is a subsidiary of National Safe Drivers, which is one ofthe largest suppliers of auto-related supplemental products forinsurance agencies around the country. The company providespersonal lines and commercial insurance products by using 2,000independent agencies in 40 states, representing a written premiumin excess of $50 million. The company's Homegard product has anA-rating by A.M. Best.
