Germany's Finance Minister Peer Steinbruck will address theannual meeting of the International Insurance Society next month inBerlin, IIS announced.

Mr. Steinbruck will deliver the keynote speech at the sessionco-hosted by the German Insurance Association July 8-11.

"We are very pleased to have a keynote speaker of this statureat our meeting," said Patrick Kenny, president and chief executiveofficer of ISS.

Financial and political issues, along with Mr. Steinbruck'sviews on the emergence of Solvency II--the European Commissionsambitious regulatory project--and the fast-growing industry ofhedge funds will be a few key points mentioned in the speech, IISsaid.

Mr. Steinbruck is a member of the Social Democratic Party ofGermany (SPD) as well as the Federal Minister of Finance in thecabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

IIS said Mr. Steinbruck's career has been dedicated to politicsand serving the federal government. Mr. Steinbruck was mostrecently the minister of economic and small-to-medium enterprisesin Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.

The German Insurance Association represents the positions of theGerman insurance industry before society, politicians, businesses,the media and academia.

|

The International Insurance Society is a nonprofit corporationwith over 1,000 corporate and individual members from 92countries.
