Willis Re, the reinsurance arm of London-headquartered insurancebroker Willis Group Holdings, said it is opening a branch inSeattle.

The new office will be managed by Doug May, who has beenappointed as executive vice president.

Prior to joining Willis, Mr. May served as a managing directorat Guy Carpenter in Seattle.

Paddy Jago, chief executive officer of Willis Re, said theopening of the office positions the firm for expansion in theNorthwest and the West Coast.

Willis also announced that Perry Golkin, who has served on theboard of directors since 1998, will not seek re-election.

Mr. Golkin was the last remaining member of Kohlberg KravisRoberts & Co. on the board. KKR purchased Willis in 1998,taking it private. It became a public company again in 2001.

The Willis board consists of 11 members, 10 of whom areindependent, the firm said.
