The role that the World Trade Center Captive Insurance Companyplayed after the attack on the Twin Towers will be a topic at theupcoming Captive Insurance Companies Association Conference.

Planners of the event on March 11-13 in Tucson, Ariz., said itwill also present several sessions on regulatory issues.

CICA said that a session titled “WTC Captive: The CompellingStory Comes to Light” would feature WTC Captive Insurance CompanyPresident and Chief Executive Officer Christine LaSala, discussinghow the captive has operated since Sept. 11, 2001 “following themost significant event in recent history.”

The keynote speaker will be veteran White House correspondentHelen Thomas.

CICA President Dennis P. Harwick noted that a session on thefuture of captives features D. Hugh Rosenbaum, retired principal,Tillinghast; Ernst Csiszar, former president of Property CasualtyInsurers Association of America and South Carolina insurancecommissioner; and Mark Jablonowski, with Conning Research &Consulting.

High on the agenda, he said, is a discussion of increasedgovernment regulation. CICA said it is “asking the tough questionsand ensuring that the captive community has a seat at the tablewhen new regulatory structures are being considered.”
