Florida Insurance Council Chair Tom Koval has announced are-organization of the group's committee structure and named chairsand vice chairs. Koval said the changes were designed to helpeliminate redundant efforts and increase interaction among thevarious lines of insurance that FIC represents.

One of the major changes is the creation of Advocacy Procedures,designed to govern all issues related to FIC's advocacy, fromconflicts of interest, to hiring consultants, to the creation offormal legislative positions.

At the core of the Advocacy Program is the creation of amechanism through which recommended legislative positions arefiltered, adopted, or disapproved with opportunities for all tohave input and a voice at varying levels.

A legislative committee has been created to accomplish this andappointments have been made. The FIC officers fill four of thecommittee positions: Koval, FCCI Group, Sarasota; FIC Chair-ElectGeorge Grawe, Allstate, St. Petersburg; FIC Vice Chair/TreasurerBill Dudley, AFLAC, Columbus, Georgia; FIC Vice Chair/SecretaryKurt Driscoll, First Professionals Insurance Company, Jacksonville.FIC members Mike Jennings of Prudential Financial in Jacksonville,Rob Henderson of USAA in Tallahassee, and Harry Spring of Humana inMiramar round out the committee.
