The number of risk retention groups in the United States nowstands at 226–more than double the number three years ago,according to the newly published Risk Retention Group Directory& Guide, 2006.

The directory contains in-depth profiles for risk retentiongroups and features indexes of more than 500 service providers,detailing the services they provide to RRGs.

Each full-page profile describes the RRG and its members andincludes the types of risks insured, eligibility requirements,insurance coverages, policy limits and reinsurers.

Profiles also contain names of key officers, contactinformation, states of operation, licensing information, andaccessibility of the RRG to insureds, agents and brokers. Selectedstatistical information for RRGs for the past four years isprovided as well, according to a press release.

The Risk Retention Group Directory & Guide, 2006 includes aState-by-State Survey of Risk Retention Group regulation, A Guideto the 1986 Risk Retention Act, full text of the Liability RiskRetention Act of 1986, proposed amendments to the Risk RetentionAct, and contact information for state insurance departmentpersonnel, as well as contact information for key agencies andorganizations.

Uniform registration forms developed by the National Associationof Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for RRG registration with stateinsurance departments are also provided.
