The New York State Insurance Department has published its 2005Annual Ranking of Automobile Insurance Complaints, a report thatcompares automobile insurers based on their level of customerservice.

The department analyzed the number of complaints consumers filedagainst their auto insurers in the previous calendar year,determined how many had merit, and calculated these trends in thecontext of an insurer's total premiums written in the state. Atotal of 48 insurance companies or groups of companies wereincorporated into the report.
