Risk Management Solutions has published “Hurricane Katrina:Profile of a Super Cat,” a report summarizing the development ofdamage from Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans flood, as well asthe issues that will determine the final outcome of losses sufferedby the insurance industry and others.

The report emphasizes that the devastating effects of Katrinaand the subsequent flooding will lead to an increased focus oncontrolling exposures to other potential “super catastrophes” thatcan lead to losses on such a scale. RMS anticipates that companieswill work with catastrophe modeling firms and internal and industryconsultants to develop more accurate analyses and strategies formitigation.
