Steuck Quits As S.Dakota Regulator

South Dakota Insurance Director Gary Steuck, in an email toindustry advocates yesterday, announced he is resigning effectiveJuly 22 to take a post with an insurance firm.

Mr. Steuck was appointed director of insurance by Gov. MikeRounds in 2003.

He will assume the position of director at Dacotah Insurance inMobridge, S.D. on July 25. At Dacotah, Mr. Steuck will oversee thecompany's 22 agencies, two title insurance companies and will alsohave responsibilities at Dacotah Bank.

"In his two years as director of insurance, Mr. Steuckaccomplished much and is credited with securing enactment ofpersonal and commercial lines rate modernization," said JoeThesing, state affairs manager for the National Association ofMutual Insurance Companies.
