Senate Whip To Address Agents

NU Online News Service, March, 3, 4:00 p.m.EST?The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers ofAmerica said Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., willspeak to its members next month during its National LegislativeConference.[@@]

Mr. McConnell is scheduled to speak during a breakfast to beheld April 21.

The Alexandria, Va.-based association's conference will runApril 20-22 at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

Robert A. Rusbuldt, IIABA's chief executive officer, said thatas one of the key members in the Senate, Mr. McConnell is in aposition to advance reforms on issues of interest to themembership, such as tax and legal system reforms.

Sen. McConnell was elected to the Senate in 1984 as the firstRepublican to win a statewide race in Kentucky since 1968.

The legislative conference will include an in-depth issuesbriefing session; Congressional reception on Capitol Hill;appearances by numerous high-profile speakers discussing importantinsurance and national issues confronting lawmakers as well asagents and brokers in Washington, D.C.; and hundreds of meetings onCapitol Hill between independent agents and brokers and theirelected representatives in the Congress.
