New Captive Ed Program Names Cantor Director

NU Online News Service, June 15, 2:30 p.m.EDT?The International Center for Captive InsuranceEducation, a program to be launched this fall to provide educationfor the captive industry, announced it has hired Mitch Cantor ofShelburne, Vt., as its first executive director.[@@]

Mr. Cantor was chosen by ICCIE's board of directors to lead theeffort. His background includes extensive business and marketingexperience, management of nonprofit organizations, andgrant-writing and fundraising expertise.

Beginning in September, ICCIE will offer its first courses,according to the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, whichspearheaded the effort.

The curriculum contains five core courses, a series of electivesand teleconferences. Courses will be taught in person and online bya staff of recognized industry experts, VCIA said.

Students will be tested upon completion of each course and mustbe successful in each exam in order to receive their certification.Participants may also register for individual modules rather thanthe certification track, according to VCIA.

Dan Labrie, president and chief executive officer of HousingAuthority Insurance Group, said, "The education of participants inthe captive insurance industry is essential to our success and thatof all captive insurance companies." He added that knowledgeableprofessionals are key "to a well-managed, high-quality captiveindustry."
