Brown &Brown Enters Sports Niche

NU Online News Service, March 18, 12:55 p.m.EST - Daytona Beach, Fla.?based insurance broker Brown& Brown Inc. said it is stepping into the sports andentertainment world with the acquisition of Entertainment &Sports Insurance Experts Inc. (ESIX).

The firm announced today that it acquired the Atlanta-basedagency that specializes in providing insurance products andservices to the professional and amateur sports and theentertainment industries.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. ESIX, withannualized revenues of approximately $1.25 million, is a commercialproperty-casualty insurance agency providing insurance products andservices to individuals and businesses.

Mike A. Price, president of ESIX, will continue to manage theagency along with Kelly Price and their staff. The agency willoperate under the ESIX name as a stand-alone business unit withinBrown & Brown.
