Integrating Word Processing

This question comes from James Benson, Merit Insurance,Bridgeport, Conn.

Q. We use an AMS mainframe in our agency. Is it possibleto integrate our word-processing system with AMS?

A. All three of AMS's strategic management systems integratewith Microsoft Word. If you are a user of AfW, Prime or Sagitta andhave questions about this integration, please contact your supportrep by calling 800-456-7895 or visiting the AMS Customer SupportWeb site.

If you are using the most current version of Sagitta [themanagement system used by the agency that submitted the question]and your system meets the requirements for server, workstation anddatabase versions, you have Word integration through the “AMS WordProcessing & Proposals” product. This product is used to createand maintain templates for correspondence, proposals and schedulesof insurance, and to deliver the output to Microsoft Word. Clientand policy information from the Sagitta database can be merged intoa document as part of this process.

Integration is also available with AfW and Prime managementsystems. AfW fully integrates with Microsoft Word for schedules, proposals and form letters. Prime uses the word processor that isset up as the default application for documents with a .docextension. Prime uses the default word processor whenever a usercreates a new or edits an existing document.

Prime also has Mail Merge and Auto-Memo features designed towork with Microsoft Word. These special features allow the user toincorporate data from Prime into documents to avoid duplicateentry.
