Agent, State Associations Get IIAA Honors

An Arkansas independent agent who worked onpolicy form changes, and four state associations that have beenactive in educating agents have been honored with awards from theIndependent Insurance Agents of America.

Karen Regan, an independent agent from Little Rock, Ark., wasgiven the annual Matthew A. Cantoni Jr. Technical and RiskManagement Award. Ms. Regan, a past chair for IIAAs Consumer andTechnical Affairs Committee, was recognized for her role workingwith IIAA and the Insurance Services Office on form changes,particularly those dealing with pollution exclusions.

The Alexandria, Va.-based association announced that theIndependent Insurance Agents of New Mexico, the Alabama IndependentInsurance Agents, the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers ofWashington state, and the Massachusetts Association of InsuranceAgents received the L.P. McCord National Education Award. Theaward, in three state membership size categories, is given inacknowledgement of an association's work in providing educationalprograms for agents.

Eight state Young Agents committee organizations were alsorecognized for their work in promoting and developing leadershipwithin their states.

The 2001 Outstanding Young Agents Committee Award went to theYoung Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents ofIndiana. This is the second year in a row that the Indiana grouphas won the IIAAs top national young agents committee award.

The committee was given recognition for its work in politics,membership development, communication and promotion of theindependent agency system.

|

The Young Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agentsof North Carolina was named runner-up and was honored with theOutstanding Membership Development Award.

|

Four additional national awards of excellence recognizing theleadership of young agents committees in state associations werealso presented.

The Outstanding State Committee Project was shared by threerecipients–the Young Agents Committee of the Independent InsuranceAgents of Oklahoma; the Young Agents Committee of the MissouriAssociation of Insurance Agents; and the Young Agents Committee ofthe Kansas Association of Insurance Agents.

The Outstanding Communications Award went to the Young AgentsCommittee of the Insurance Brokers and Agents of the West.

|

The Outstanding Young Agents Meeting Award recipient was theYoung Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents ofGeorgia.

|

The Outstanding Political Involvement Award was given to theYoung Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents ofKentucky.
