Pencel (www.pencel.com)recently launched its Kinectivity system to enable corporations toprovide mobile workers with access to corporate data resources viaPalm handhelds.

A mobile extended database and application tool, thePencel-described 'define-and-deploy' system offers custom mobilesolutions for anytime/anywhere access. Applications created withKinectivity Studio-a software development environment used toprototype, develop, and deliver custom mobile solutions-aredeployed on Kinectivity to integrate with back-end databases andother software products.

The Kinectivity system provides configurable components mostoften needed for mobile DB applications, including user interface,data validation, and data exchange connections.

Kinectivity's database platform consists of software on thecorporate side and on the mobile device. The server componentpromotes connectivity between enterprise systems and manages dataflow to and from the wireless devices. While Palm is the onlydevice currently supported, Pencel plans to include Microsoft'sPocket PC and RIM Blackberry devices.
