“MIB was established as an association of life insurancecompanies,” said Fred Pritkin, vice president and chief marketingofficer of MIB's e-Services Corp. “The information in our databasesalerts them to possible omissions or misrepresentations on theapplication. We realized that the same kind of service couldbenefit the health insurance industry.”

Apparently, some current members that also underwrite majormedical coverage policies were already benefiting from MIB's fraudprevention service. “Some member companies have refocused theirunderwriting from life insurance to health insurance,” Pritkinsaid. “It was actually their experience that showed us how MIBcould be of service to the health insurance industry as awhole.”
