Two out of three people in the U.S. take summer vacations, according to the Ipsos Consumer Tracker. About half of them turn to the open road while the other half seek out farther-flung destinations.
The urge to “get away from it all” and “unplug” during the warm-weather season is so strong that travelers increasingly seek out international destinations during the summer. With that in mind, the travel website Rate Hawk picked its favorite destinations for summer 2025 travel. The criteria: Each location needs to accommodate any budget or activity appetite.

The Insurance Information Institute advises consumers that there are four major types of travel insurance: Trip cancellation insurance; baggage or personal effects insurance; emergency medical assistance; and accidental death. In addition to these, travelers may also want to layer in protection for missed connections, travel delays, emergency evacuation, or rental cars.
“A whole variety of unforeseen circumstances can squash travel plans with little notice,” the III reports. “Choose your travel insurance based on what makes sense for your trip and your own finances.”
