The insurance industry is abuzz following Hurricane Harvey's arrival in Texas.
Extreme rain and winds have left many parts of Texas ravaged, while others are dealing with floods as the hurricane has stalled.
Once all the extreme weather has died down for good, insurers can expect to have their hands full. Auto insurers, especially, can expect a multitude of claims after hundreds — if not thousands — of cars were forcibly abandoned and subsequently flooded.
Certain insurers have a greater market share in Texas than others. Here are the top 10 insurers of private passenger auto insurance in Texas by direct premiums written in 2016, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
