With Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice and Boxing Day, December is packed full of religious and cultural holidays. And that's not counting the official national holidays of Christmas and New Year's Day.
So there's plenty to celebrate — and decorate for.
The employees at Salyers Insurance, an independent, family-owned insurance agency in Chillicothe, Ohio, like to go all out for the December holidays.
"We actually decorate for every season. Our customers love it. They come in and feel like part of the family. This is a small town. We are a small business. This is a very family-oriented place," explains Michon Ekvall, an agent at Salyers Insurance, and sister of co-owners Mark Salyers and Matthew Salyers.
The predominant theme of the Christmas decorations at Salyers Insurance is scarlet and gray — the colors of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, which is about 50 miles north of Chillicothe.
"Our family members are all Buckeye fans," said Ekvall, whose daughter, Carly, is a student at Ohio State.

Salyers Insurance kicks off the holiday season through its sponsorship of the "Rudolph Run," which raises money for a nonprofit that supports cancer patients. Ekvall and her family members don blinking nose lights and wrap themselves in blankets for the 1-mile run through downtown Chillicothe on the first Thursday of each December.
