For customers of VERTEX, the vendor's VTXml Product Suite provides a way to define their insurance product processing rules by using business terms.

"We translate that to an industry data standard format so that they can communicate the data electronically to all of their distribution partners in one standard format," says Suzanne Brazeal, vice president of business automation services for VERTEX, a winner this year of a RAVE Award.

"Each year we continue to drive the growth of the industry standards through definition and adoption to ensure our clients' specific business challenges are addressed by the standards," she adds. "This past year we enhanced the standards and our solution to include better definition for life products and a means to support in-force transactions for annuity products."

The platform is offered as a SaaS model and is built on Microsoft .NET technology and SQL Server. It provides a business-centric, user-friendly graphical interface combined with configurable data translation routines that produce XML messages using the insurance industry's various data standards.

VERTEX combines an intuitive platform with a knowledgeable and friendly support staff, according to Brazeal.

"We have a strong commitment to servicing our clients and providing them with quantifiable value on a regular basis," she says. "We are very conscious of our presence in the insurance industry. I believe we received the RAVE Award because our clients recognize our commitment to them and their industry."

VERTEX keeps an open line of communication for its clients to present ideas to the vendor about how they'd like the platform to progress, explains Brazeal.

"The suggestions they send in are then socialized with our client base each month during our user-group call for validation and prioritization," she says. "Enhancements are released on a regular basis and since it's a SaaS platform all clients receive the enhancement automatically and simultaneously. Most of the enhancements made to our platform come from our clients."
