Aon Replaces AIG As Manchester United Soccer Team Sponsor

Aon has taken over as sponsor of world-famous British soccer team Manchester United, a marketing spot that was held by American International Group.

Manchester United said it "reached a significant global partnership" with the Chicago-based insurance broker on a sponsorship agreement starting with the 2010-2011 season. As sponsor, the Aon brand will be featured on the soccer team's shirts for four years.

Terms of the deal were not released.

New York-based AIG, before it feel on hard financial times, struck a deal with Manchester United in 2006 to feature the insurer's logo on the team's shirts for four years for $98.9 million.
