The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched its annual holiday Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over national enforcement campaign. This is the department’s latest initiative to protect American families and drive down road fatalities, which are the lowest since 2019.
Safety National awarded the 2025 Safety First Grant to three policyholders for their creative risk control solutions.
- First place: The $10,000 matching grant was awarded to Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA) for the facilitation of its Law Enforcement De-escalation Simulator Training used to reduce the use of force in dangerous arrest and control situations. This program will significantly improve officer safety.
- Second place: The $5,000 matching grant was awarded to Palmetto Hospital Trust toward the development of a dedicated de-escalation response team and simulation-based training to mitigate workplace violence incidents in the emergency department. This will support proactive skill-building, reduce training time and prevent injuries to healthcare workers.
- Third place: The $2,500 matching grant was awarded to Lam Research for the implementation of smart wearable technology designed to monitor posture and movement patterns, detect improper positioning and provide corrective guidance. This technology will reduce musculoskeletal disorders and enhance employee well-being.
