Animal-related claims are common in the insurance industry, with millions filed every year for a variety of reasons.
Car and animal collisions are some of the most common animal-related claims. Between July 2023 and June 2024, there were over 1.8 million auto insurance claims for animal collisions in the U.S., according to a report from State Farm.
Dog bites are another common claim. In 2024, 22,658 dog bite claims were filed, up from 19,062 the year before. Dog bite liability claims cost more than $1.5 million last year.
