Sompo International has entered into a definitive merger agreement pursuant to which it will acquire 100% of the issued Class A ordinary shares of Aspen Insurance for $37.50 per share in cash. This represents aggregate consideration of approximately $3.5 billion. Aspen brings a leading specialty insurance and reinsurance franchise with more than $4.6 billion in annual gross written premiums centered around specialty product lines and bespoke solutions.
Liberty Mutual Reinsurance has partnered with Safehub, a provider of seismic sensor and risk management technology, to launch a groundbreaking earthquake parametric insurance solution: ShakeNet Parametric. LM Re provides capacity for the product that is triggered by movement detected by Safehub’s growing global network of proprietary seismic sensors and existing governmental sensor networks. ShakeNet reduces basis risk for parametric re/insurance policies by better aligning payout with actual losses, enabling large portfolios, public-private partnerships and sub-layer reinsurance structures.
FM announced that its wholly owned subsidiary headquartered in São Paulo, FM Seguros S.A., has obtained a license to operate as an insurer in Brazil. The new operation represents a significant milestone in the company's strategic expansion and will allow it to offer coverage to clients as a licensed insurer throughout the national territory starting in 2026.
