The USAA Board of Directors has announced Juan C. Andrade will become the company’s next president and CEO, effective April 2.

Andrade has served on USAA's board for the last four years and was previously vice chairman of USAA’s Advisory Panel — a forum intended to allow board directors and teammates to interact with members to improve service.

In a release, USAA said that Andrade has served as a strong industry leader at multinational companies, where he has built high-performing teams and navigated complex market challenges. He comes to USAA from Everest Group, Ltd., where he has served as president and CEO since 2020.

Prior to his time at Everest, Andrade served as president of Chubb’s international business, president and CEO at The Hartford and as a general manager at Progressive. He was named one of the world’s most influential decision makers by the Wall Street Journal in 2023.

“USAA is a special association, and the board took great care to find someone with the right expertise, vision and leadership. Juan has a deep respect for our men and women in uniform, having served alongside them to help safeguard our national security,” USAA board chair, Vice Admiral (USN, Ret.) Jim Zortman, said in a release. “We know he will continue his track record of building high-performing teams and enhance USAA’s legacy of service.”

In the earlier stages of his career, Andrade worked in national security, international affairs and drug policy with the U.S. Federal Government’s Executive Branch and the Executive Office of the President. During that time, he held various roles including with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. He was awarded the second-highest honor for civilian employees — the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service — for his work countering international drug trafficking.

“I’m excited to build upon USAA’s legacy and continue innovating to add value to our members’ experiences and help more military families achieve financial security,” Andrade shared in the release. “I admire the association’s dedication to the military community and their families. Witnessing firsthand the outstanding service the team provides to our courageous service men and women, I am honored to lead USAA in its second century of service.”

Andrade succeeds current USAA CEO Wayne Peacock, who announced his retirement in August after heading the company since 2020.
