McKinney Fire destroys 185 structures, 60K acres in Northern California

The McKinney Fire, which has been burning in Northern California since July 29, 2022, has destroyed at least 185 structures, damaged 11 buildings, injured seven people and resulted in four deaths, according to Cal Fire's incident report dated Aug. 10, 2022. Siskiyou County's Office of Emergency Services reported on Aug. 5, 2022, that at least 87 homes were destroyed in the fire. The county is maintaining an interactive map detailing damage from the wildfire and damage assessments are ongoing. As the fire has progressed toward Scott Bar and State Route 96, a portion of the highway from Scott River road in Hamburg, California, to the junction of SR 263 has remained closed as of Aug. 9, 2022. Multiple evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect for parts of Siskiyou County. The fire has burned for more than 11 days and has so far consumed in excess of 60,300 acres, according to Cal Fire, which reported the fire was 60% contained as of Aug. 10. In fighting the blaze, Cal Fire has deployed five helicopters, 263 fire engines, 73 bulldozers, 60 water tenders and more than 80 crews comprising some 3,500 personnel. Related:
