Although the pandemic hammered the cruise industry, with 2020 seeing an 81% drop in the number of passengers, the sector is poised to rebound to pre-COVID-19 volumes in the years ahead, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). Optimistic forecasts project passenger volume to exceed 2019 levels by the end of this year, while conservative estimates suggest 2023. "CLIA ocean-going cruise lines have welcomed more than 6 million guests onboard since resuming operations in July 2020," Kelly Craighead, president and CEO of CLIA, said in a release. "Coastal and maritime tourism is an important economic driver, and we continue to work in partnership with cruise destinations so that communities thrive from responsible tourism." Further, more than 80% of travelers who have taken a cruise in the past said they would do so again, CLIA reported. Forbes Advisor noted that cruise-specific insurance plans aren't a necessity, as "any good travel insurance plan with generous medical benefits and the other benefits you want can work well for a cruise." The above slideshow highlights the top cruise insurance policies for 2022, according to Forbes Advisor. The policies included above have at least $150,000 in medical that includes coverage for COVID-19 and pre-existing conditions and the ability to add cancel for any reason coverage. Related:
