MS Amlin appointed Stuart Wood head of casualty. He has been a member of the MS Amlin team for more than 10 years; prior to being promoted to head of casualty, he served as class underwriter, international professional indemnity. Hannah Altomare has been promoted to account executive within RT Specialty LLC's environmental and construction professional practice. Before her current role, Altomare served as a claims consultant at Conner Strong & Buckelew. Edgewood Healthcare Advisors, a division of EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants, announced that Dan Joyal has joined the Boston health care team as a vice president. Prior to joining EPIC, Joyal was with HUB International, where he consultant and placed all lines of coverage in their health care vertical. Dennis DiCapua has been appointed president of Breckenridge Insurance Group's program division, Blue River Underwriters. Most recently, he founded a managing general agency, Newport General Agency, that was sold to AmWINS in 2010. Safety National announced the following promotions:
  • Steve Divine, the current senior vice president - finance, has added the title of chief accounting officer to his role
  • Rob Leitner has been promoted to senior vice president - business development
  • Curt Reno has been promoted to senior  vice president - insurance underwriting
  • Bob King has been promoted to senior vice president - reinsurance underwriting
Scott Plummer has been appointed director of strategy for Origami Risk's core solutions division. Plummer joins Origami Risk after serving for 14 years in a series of leadership positions at Guidewire Software. ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company appointed Jan West and Jeff Borkowski to its board of directors. West is a member of Goldberg Simpson law firm in Louisville, Ky., and practices law in the areas of business and commercial litigation and employment law. Borkowski serves as the company's CEO. Stephen Buonpane has been named construction industry practice leader for Chubb's large account segment. Prior to this expanded role, he served as executive vice president, major accounts construction. NFP announced that Andrew Harbut has joined the P&C division as a senior vice president and insurance due diligence practice leader. He was a managing director at HAUSER prior to this appointment. Anita Mahon has been appointed to the role of executive vice president, chief growth and strategy officer at EXL. Mahon was most recently vice president, data, strategy & portfolio officer at IBM Watson Health. Kim Smith, president and CEO of Indiana Farmers Insurance, announced that she will retire in January 2022. The board of directors has engaged the Carlisle Group to identify candidates to fill Smith's role. Markel Corporation announced it is combining its existing U.S. insurance divisions— assurance and specialty — into one division called Markel Specialty, effective April 1, 2020. The company announced four promotions related to this organizational change:
  • Wendy Houser and Sarah Gavlick - executive territory officers
  • Alison Burgess - regional president for the Northeast region, effective April 1.
  • Daniel Kennedy - regional president for the mid-South region, effective April 1.
The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA) elected the following board members as WSIA officers for one- and three-year terms:
  • Bryan Sanders - president
  • Davis Moore - vice president
  • Bryan Clark - secretary
  • Dave Obenauer - treasurer
  • Patrick Albrecht, Shannon Dahlke Applegate, Brenda Austenfeld, Wendy Houser and Coryn Thalmann will serve three-year terms as directors
