People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: Jan. 17, 2020

Susan E. Burke has been appointed vice president and director of assumed reinsurance in Liberty Mutual Re's casualty treaty department. Burke joins Liberty from the reinsurance unit of Swiss Re, where she most recently served as senior treaty underwriter. MS Amlin announced the launch of David Ashby Underwriting Ltd. (DAU), a specialist equine MGA that has been formed following the buyout of MS Amlin's equine book of business and renewal rights by David Ashby, former managing director and principal underwriter for equine at MS Amlin. Ashby will serve as CEO and chief underwriting officer of DAU. Robin Sidders has been appointed head of investor relations at International General Insurance Holdings Limited. Sidders has over 25 years of leadership experience in strategic financial communications and investor relations, most notably serving as director, investor relations at PartnerRe for more than 14 years. Piiq Risk Partners appointed Ian George senior partner. He joins Piiq from Willis Towers Watson, where he most recently held the role of regional director, Japan aviation and aerospace. Erik Bleekrode has been tapped to be KPMG's new head of insurance in the Asia Pacific region. Based in Hong Kong, Erik is also head of insurance for KPMG in China and leads KPMG China's insurance accounting change practice. California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara announced the following appointments to the Curriculum Board and the California Insurance Guarantee Association (CIGA) board of governors:

• The newest members of the Curriculum Board include Neal Bordenave, president & CEO of RiskPro Insurance Services Inc., Jesse Dogillo, owner of Bay Area Financial and Insurance Services, and Mimie Yoon-Lee, assistant vice president for investment advisor training at Lincoln Financial Network.
• The newest member of CIGA board of governors is Richard De La Mora, senior vice president & counsel, head of personal lines and strategy at Farmers Group Inc.

Mark Prechtl has been elected chair of the New York Insurance Association and began serving a one-year term on Jan. 1, 2020. He is the executive vice president and CEO at Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company, Origami Risk appointed David Duden strategic relationships executive in the firm's core solutions division. Most recently, he was managing director and national RMIS practice leader at Deloitte Consulting LLP. Amy Russell has been hired as a commercial lines account manager at POWERS Insurance & Risk Management. Prior to joining POWERS, she was an account manager at Missouri General Insurance. LISI Inc. appointed Jack Lyons director of sales of LISI. Prior to accepting the position at LISI, Lyons was the regional vice president, small group & key accounts at Anthem. Reid Sutton has joined Bloss & Dillard Inc. as a business development representative. Sutton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017. National Partners PFco named Brian Soder senior vice president, sales. He was most recently senior vice president, national accounts with AFS/IBEX. Philadelphia Insurance Companies announced the following appointments and promotions:

• John Doyle is now co-chief underwriting officer along with President John Glomb
• Cory Davis, Kimberly Hamilton and Brent Skiles were promoted to senior vice presidents

Stephen Rios has joined Transcom Solutions as director of business development. Most recently, Rios held the position of vice president of client services for Orchid Medical. BriteCore welcomed John Davi and Chris Heggelund as chief product officer and senior vice president, respectively. Before joining BriteCore, Davi was senior vice president of product at MINDBODY. Heggelund has spent the last twenty years at Sircon, a Vertafore business. Annmarie Fini has been promoted to executive vice president of customer success at Benefitfocus Inc. After briefly working with Benefitfocus founders as a client, Fini was one of the first employees to join the company in client services in 2000. Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP announced that Adam Masin has joined the Hartford office as a partner in the products liability and mass torts group. Masin comes to the firm from Shipman & Goodwin. Tara Bodden has joined At-Bay as general counsel and head of claims. She joins At-Bay from Hiscox USA, where she was senior vice president and head of claims for cyber, media and technology, and interim head of claims for the U.S. for six months. Sompo International Holdings Ltd. appointed David Carter chief underwriting officer and executive vice president of the Sompo Global Risk Solutions strategic business unit. Most recently, he served as the chief insurance officer of an InsurTech startup. Phillip McCrorie has been appointed to the WSIA board of directors. McCrorie currently serves as president of RSUI. ANE, Agency Network Exchange LLC, added Kevin Grove as regional director and Frank Vetrano as director of membership. Grove spent the last 16 years with Travelers as an account executive and most recently served as regional director in Pennsylvania. Vetrano previously worked with the Hanover Group as regional vice president for New Jersey and downstate New York. Geraldine DelPrete has been promoted to president of programs at SterlingRisk Insurance. Prior to joining SterlingRisk in 2018 as director of programs, senior vice president, DelPrete held senior reinsurance and program development positions at some of the world's largest insurance brokers, including Aon Re.
