People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: Nov. 15, 2019

Oliver Horbelt has been named chief financial officer for Munich Reinsurance America Inc. and will be a member of the U.S. operations executive board. Since 2015, Horbelt has served as head of Munich Reinsurance America's Capital Partners Americas business unit. Guy Carpenter & Company LLC appointed Robert Johnston as chairman of Guy Carpenter's Bermuda operations and Peter Komposch as head of casualty and specialty, Bermuda. Johnston has nearly 20 years of experience in Bermuda, most recently as president of Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda. Komposch was previously managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions. Jay Virdi has been named chief sales officer for HUB International's cannabis insurance and risk services in the U.S. and Canada. He most recently developed and managed the cannabis practice group for Burns & Wilcox Canada. CAC Specialty introduced Chelley Schaper as its newest senior vice president. Most recently, Schaper founded a technology platform for the health and wellbeing company, ActiveSoul Inc., where she served as CEO. Sulema Medrano has joined Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP's Chicago office as a partner in the insurance practice. Medrano comes to the firm from SmithAmundsend LLC. Burns & Wilcox added Suzette Torres and Gina Marquez to its Houston management team as a managing director and as an operations manager, respectively. Torres recently served as senior vice president, underwriting leader, personal lines for the AmWINS Group. Marquez joins the company after recently working as assistant vice president at the AmWINS Group. Loredana Mazzoleni Neglén has been appointed head customer experience & global sales steering for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, effective Feb. 1, 2020. She currently serves as managing director, head customer & distribution Europe, Middle East and Africa. Everest Insurance added four new members to its financial lines team:

• Tim Golden - underwriting manager on the cyber team
• Kyle Auty - director of product management
• Micah Placek - senior underwriter on the private company team
• Kirk Meixner - underwriter on the lawyers professional liability team

Amy Rider has been promoted to vice president, strategic risk and mortality management at Sammons Financial Group (SFG). Prior to joining SFG, Rider served as director of underwriting and risk management at Optimum Re Insurance Company. Jackson Sumner & Associates (JSA) promoted Kristel McNeil to the position of P&C manager. She first began with JSA in 1998 in support staff, and in 2001 moved into underwriting for the company. Angela Ripley, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America's government affairs committee chair, has been named to the Federal Reserve Board's insurance policy advisory committee. Ripley, president of VW Brown Insurance Service, will serve a three-year term. CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, promoted Ryan Vigus to executive vice president, personal lines product, and Eric Ummel to executive vice president, commercial lines products. Vigus leads CSAA's auto and home personal lines. Before joining CSAA, Ummel served as general manager of the Northwest region of Safeco Insurance. John J. Sarchio has joined Arent Fox LLP's insurance & reinsurance practice as a partner. Prior to joining Arent Fox, he was a partner at an AmLaw 200 firm. AmTrust Financial Services Inc. announced that Daniel Hargraves has been appointed executive vice president, head of litigation. He was most recently managing partner of the New York office of Freeborn & Peters LLP, where his practice concentrated on litigating and arbitrating disputes on behalf of insurers, reinsurers, brokers, underwriting agents and pools. Don Meyer has been named interim executive director and director of operations for the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX), according to Best's News Service. He previously served as a member of the stamping office's board of directors and was board chair in 2001. Also returning to the surplus lines office is Cheyenne Herrera to the newly created role of director of operations. Herrera originally joined SLTX in 1998 as a data entry clerk. Chubb appointed Jason Keen division president, Chubb global markets. He joined ACE (now Chubb) in 2010 as regional property underwriter Asia Pacific and assumed overall responsibility for the company's property & casualty portfolio in Asia Pacific in 2016. Mark Whatley has been named CORE Group's new senior vice president of claims operations. He most recently served as a vice president at Emergency Packout Co. Risk Strategies appointed Michael S. Grant employee benefits practice leader for the firm's Greater New York region. Prior to joining Risk, Grant was senior vice president & managing director at Alliant Insurance Services. Juan Carro Arbelo has been appointed regional manager for insurance, Iberia at Starr Insurance Companies. His most recent position was market manager, Spain at QBE Europe. Quantemplate, a self-service cloud-based automated data solutions for the reinsurance industry, announced the completion of its executive management team:
