People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: July 26, 2019

American International Group Inc. (AIG) has named Karen L. Ling executive vice president, chief human resources officer, effective July 29. Ling joins AIG from Allergan plc, where for the past five years she served as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. Abby Schwarz has been hired as a vice president in the employee benefits division at Assurance. Before joining Assurance, she worked at a global management consulting firm in Chicago as a principal. The Insurance Council of Texas named Camille Garcia director of communications and public relations. She most recently served as State Farm Insurance's senior public relations manager in its Richardson, Texas, regional office. Alexandra Jackson has been named an account administrator within RT Specialty's national environmental and construction professional liability practice. Prior to joining RT Specialty, Jackson worked with the Accident Fund Insurance Company of America in Lansing, Mich., and Wrap Up Insurance Solutions Inc. in Chesterfield, Mo. Selective Insurance Company of America, a subsidiary of Selective Insurance Group Inc., announced the following officer appointments:

• Shelly Gallagher - vice president, personal lines operations
• Valerie Sparks - vice president, underwriting in Selective's Southwest region
• Gaurav Puri - assistant vice president, analytics strategy
• Mattia Scharfstein - assistant vice president, regulatory management services
• Tacia Thomas - assistant vice president, excess and surplus operations

CNA announced the appointment of Jeremy Winter to senior vice president, Chicago branch manager, effective September 1. Winter joined CNA in August 2018 as Seattle and Portland branch manager. Kelly Castriotta has been promoted to regional head of product development for financial lines in North America at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS). She joined the AGCS financial lines team in 2018. EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants announced that Eric Feighl has joined the firm as a principal and Southwest region surety practice leader. He is joined by principal and client advocate John Hohlt. Both join EPIC from Marsh Wortham, where Feighl spent more than 20 years as a managing principal and a surety bond and executive liability broker, while Holt spent the past four years serving clients as a surety bond producer/broker. Roger Francis has been appointed cyber claims director at specialist insurance provider CFC. Most recently, he was the head of EMEA security advisory at Aon/Stronz Friedberg. Nationwide announced that Eric Stevenson will be the next leader of its retirement plans business. He most recently served as senior vice president of distribution for Nationwide's retirement plan business. Victor Lange joined Apollo Insurance Solutions Ltd. as chief operating officer (COO). He has worked at Intact Insurance and as COO of one of western Canada's largest privately held commercial insurance brokerages, Wilson M. Beck. American Modern Insurance Group Inc. appointed Eric Hunziker chief claims officer; he will also become a member of American Modern's executive management board. Hunziker has been with the company for more than 25 years, most recently served as vice president of producer management. Paula Boca-Bommarito has joined CopperPoint Insurance Companies as assistant vice president, enterprise brand and community strategy. Before this, she served as the executive director of the Arizona Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc. announced the following appointments:

• Michael Prentiss - promoted to assistant vice president
• Robert Barresi - promoted to senior vice president

Praedicat Inc., a risk analytics software company for casualty insurers and global industrial companies, appointed Grant Dewar vice president, global industrials. His previous roles include four years as FIS's chief operating officer for its EMEA insurance group. James Love will join American International Group Inc. (AIG) as global head of real estate, effective August 6. He brings nearly 20 years of experience as vice president, head of real estate strategy — Americas, at Goldman, Sachs & Co.
