The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FOIR) has updated its Hurricane Michael claims figures and now is reporting that more than 144,000 claims have been filed with insurers, and that insured losses exceed $6 billion.
The vast majority of claims — over 95,000 — relate to residential property; 78% of those claims have been closed.
The FOIR reported the following data as of Friday, March 15, 2019:
