At the opening general session, scholarships were presented to two deserving students whose families had been affected by a work-related injury. NU's editor-in-chief Shawn Moynihan also presented awards to this year's three winners of the Workers' Compensation Risk Management Award, co-sponsored by Sedgwick and Safety National. The morning concluded with a light-hearted speech about family and values by football legend Lee Corso. Attendees were able to choose from a number of different informational sessions in the afternoon to attend.
