The insurance and finance industry software solutions company Sapiens International Corporation has announced that it intends to leverage Microsoft's two new data centers in Johannesburg and Cape Town for its cloud-based services in South Africa. This spring, Microsoft made public its plans to launch new cloud data centers across Africa. Sapiens said these plans coincide with the imminent opening of its own new head office in South Africa.

TechCanary, a provider of a cloud-based, analytics-driven insurance-industry solution, announced in late July the availability of its Broker Management System on the Salesforce AppExchange, designed for the Canadian insurance market. The original TechCanary platform serviced the Canadian market for brokers selling group benefits products. This enhancement provides Canadian brokers and insurers with additional Canada-specific capabilities to support personal and commercial property & casualty (P&C) lines of business.

Guidewire Software, Inc., the California-based provider of P&C industry software products, recently announced that the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), a provincial Crown corporation and sole provider of universal compulsory auto insurance in British Columbia (BC), has successfully implemented its Claim Portal™ for Policyholders program. Guidewire PartnerConnect™ Consulting member Ernst & Young LLP supported the implementation project.

icare, the New South Wales' government's insurance and care provider, has selected and implemented OnBase® by Hyland, the Ohio-based software developed, hosted in Hyland's cloud. icare will use OnBase to elevate its enterprise information management strategies, initiating the project within its Workers Compensation scheme.

Cincom Systems, a global software provider headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently announced that Alaska National Insurance Company, an insurer that provides a comprehensive spectrum of commercial lines insurance coverage, has successfully implemented Cincom Eloquence® as its new customer communications solution.

Eagle View Technologies, a leading provider of aerial imagery and data analytics for government and private-sector organizations headquartered in Bothell, Washington, recently acquired OmniEarth, the Virginia-based developer of machine learning technologies and decision-making tools for the water resource management, energy and insurance markets. Through OmniEarth's machine learning processes, EagleView plans to increase the rate at which the insurance industry can receive property data to make crucial underwriting and claims decisions.
