Derreck Kayongo, founder and CEO of the Center for Civil and Human Rights, had attendees at the General Session in stitches and tears with stories from his life as a child in Uganda, refugee in Libya and immigrant in Pennsylvania. Kayongo told the inspirational story of how he founded the Global Soap Project after he came to the U.S. and stayed in a hotel for the first time. Kayongo learned how barely used soap was simply thrown out by hotels and came up with a system to disinfect and donated the used soap to 92 countries where soap is not easily available.
