London-based risk management, insurance brokerage and financial advisory company Willis Towers Watson said it has appointed Gary Marchitello head of property broking for North America. He joins from Vanbridge, where he was a principal in its property practice.
Leavenworth, Kansas-based property and casualty insurer Armed Forces Insurance said it has promoted Lori L. Simmons to chief marketing officer and vice president of marketing and corporate communications from assistant vice president. She has been with the company for 21 years.
Greenwich, Connecticut-based business intelligence and analytics firm RiskMatch said it has appointed Michael S. Cormier chief client engagement officer. He joins from Marsh Risk Solutions, where he served as managing director and CEO.
Jacksonville, Florida-based property and casualty insurance retailer Brightway Insurance said Anne Stanford is the new owner of its recently opened agent location in Jacksonville, Florida. Stanford has more than 20 years' experience in the Jacksonville property and casualty market, the company said.
Brightway Insurance also said veteran businessman Gene Kropfelder is the new owner of its fourth location in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Brightway Insurance also announced Kara Phibbs as the new agency owner of its location in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Aspen Insurance said its reinsurance segment, Aspen Re, has promoted Philip Hough to managing director of Asia Pacific from global product head for the international property pro rata and per risk treaty portfolio. He joined Aspen in 2005 and is based in Sinagpore.
Paris-based trade credit insurer Coface said it has appointed Fredrik Murer CEO of its North America region, which is headquartered in East Windsor, New Jersey. He succeeds Juan Saborido who will transition into the newly created position of senior advisor. Murer joins from Ace-Chubb, where he was head of political risk and credit for the Americas.
Bermuda-based specialty insurance and reinsurance underwriter Argo Group International Holdings Ltd said it has promoted Bart Schaffer to lead U.S. commercial programs from head of binding operations. He joined Argo in 2007.
Argo Group also said it has appointed Gregory Rubel senior vice president and head of binding operations, and Patrick McGinley vice president of management liability claims. Rubel joins from Ace Westchester, where he served as senior vice president of binding authority. McGinley previously served as vice president of claims overseeing the financial institutions/professional liability claims department at Everest National Insurance Co.
Argo Group also announced the appointment of Jose A. Hernandez to lead the company's international business, effective Oct. 3. He joins from American International Group, where he served as president and chief executive officer of AIG's Asia-Pacific region.
Boston-based property and caasualty insurer Liberty Mutual Insurance said it has promoted Michael Prestileo to senior vice president and general manager of distribution from vice president and managing director of Liberty Mutual Benefits. He joined Liberty Mutual in 2006.
