The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. said it has appointed Jeffrey M. Farber executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Farber will join the Worcester, Massachusetts-based property and casualty insurer on Oct. 1 as executive vice president and senior finance officer and will assume the role of chief financial officer on or about Nov. 4.
Farber joins Hanover after serving five years with American International Group as its deputy chief financial officer and chief risk officer of commercial and consumer businesses. Prior to AIG, Farber served as chief financial officer of Gabelli Asset Management Co. Investors Inc.
“We are very excited to have Jeff join our company,” said Joseph M. Zubretsky, Hanover's president and chief executive officer. “He brings a wealth of financial leadership experience in the property and casualty and asset management businesses, expertise in strategic planning and business development, risk and capital management, along with international experience.”
Farber, who has 30 years of insurance and financial services experience, will focus on finance, accounting, investment, actuarial, enterprise risk management, treasury and investor relations functions.
Farber succeeds Eugene M. Bullis, who has served as executive vice president and interim chief financial officer since October 2015. Bullis will continue with the company until Nov. 11, working closely with Farber towards a smooth transition of financial leadership, the company said.
