Each year, NU's Excellence in Workers' Compensation Risk Management Award is bestowed upon three organizations with notably successful loss- control, safety and return-to-work programs. They are among the top performers in managing workers' comp, all of them with unique success stories to share.

This year's winners are Seaboard Foods, SMS Holdings Corporation and Stater Bros. Markets, all of which will be honored on Aug. 22 during the general session at the 71st annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC), set for Aug. 21–24 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Florida. The 2016 award is co-sponsored by Safety National and Sedgwick.

On Aug. 23 from 9:45–11 a.m., NU Editor-in-Chief Shawn Moynihan will lead a special panel (presented as part of the conference's "National Trends in Workers' Compensation" track) during which attendees can learn the secrets behind these award-winning programs directly from award winners Kay Stinson, senior VP of human resources for Seaboard Foods; Greg Lorenzi, senior vice president of risk management for SMS Holdings Corp.; and Tamara Ulufanua-Ciraulo, director of insurance administration for Stater Bros. Markets.

Presented by the Workers' Compensation Institute, WCEC is the fastest-growing, largest gathering of its kind in the U.S. and offers discipline-specific programs and breakout sessions featuring hundreds of national speakers and panelists.
